Using a Point System

When members attend meetings or events and they receive points, it is called a point system. If members get a certain amount of points, they can use them for different things.
-Prizes (anime, manga, and Japan-related things)
-Discounts (if there is an anime convention, they can get a ride for discount to the event)
-Member of the Year Award (the person with the most points can win this award at the end of the year)

The good thing about using a point system is that it becomes a way of retaining, or keeping, your members. Also, you can use them for marketing by sending emails about events and club news to members.

What you need to do to keep a point system going is by using a contact list sign-up sheet for every event (see Downloads for worksheet). Also, assign points for each type of activity.

For example, the club focuses more on Japanese culture, so:
-1 point for attending a meeting or event
-2 points for attending a seminar, class, or event about Japanese culture.
-3 points for participating in a volunteer event or cause for Japan
-4 points for joining a sub-committee

Give activities that focus on your club’s purpose more points. I would recommend giving extra points to members who took on leadership qualities because they may be the next officers of the club. Anyways, leadership skills are good to practice for the real world!
