Retaining or Keeping members
One of the hardest things about clubs is keeping your club members.
-Order food and have a game circulated around participation.
-Keep things new and interesting by having interactive meetings, like asking what they would like to see this year for an event.
-Create ad-hoc committees or sub-committees for events for members to join and participate.
-Make meetings fun by using an interesting ice-breaker at the beginning of the meeting.
-Make information real by bringing in outside speakers and presenters.
-Give members some visuals by having a screening.
-Do outside-the-meeting activities, like a month-long scavenger hunt.
-Play games where members can win prizes.
-Establish a point system where the top member can be awarded something at the end of the year for attending meetings, events, and joining a sub-committee.
-Create events that take you away from the normal meeting place, like an outing to a local Japanese art exhibition.
-Create events outside of the club that’s fun, like a party or potluck. Screenings are ok as well, but if you use them during the club meetings, a party or potluck might be a good break from them ever so often. |
